Joris Angevaare, Partner at Studio HBA, joined AHICE Global Hotel Industry Conferences South East Asia 2026 Design Inn Symposium at Pan Pacific Singapore on 10 March. As part of the Design Inn Session “Industry Leaders’ Outlook,” he participated in a panel discussion examining design at scale, responsibility, risk, and the evolving realities shaping the hospitality industry today.

The “Industry Leaders’ Outlook” session brought together voices from across the design community to discuss what’s really shaping hospitality today: design at scale, responsibility, risk, and the realities of building in an industry that keeps evolving.

The session was hosted by Christopher Chua, Founding Partner and Creative Director at Kulör Group, and brought together Aldwin Ong (Co-President, CCD), Deepu Mahboobani (Studio Director, Wimberly Interiors) and Joris.

The conversation centered on the growing complexity of large-scale hospitality development in Southeast Asia, where operational demands, commercial pressures, and long-term performance are increasingly part of every design decision. The answer, from Studio HBA’s perspective, lies in adaptability: holding creative intent steady while delivering work that is both distinctive and commercially resilient.
